Welcome to the GreenGPT Blog
This is the GreenGPT blog. We'll use it to share what we're learning about building and running an AI chat that tries to pollute a little less.
This is the GreenGPT blog. We'll use it to share what we're learning about building and running an AI chat that tries to pollute a little less.
The short version
GreenGPT is an AI chat for writing, coding, research, and everyday questions. It works the way you'd expect — the difference is behind the scenes, where we focus on using less energy to get you the same quality answers.
We're not reinventing AI. We're just trying to run it more carefully.
What we actually do
A few concrete things:
- Smarter model routing — each query goes to the most efficient model that can handle it well, instead of always hitting the largest one available
- Leaner infrastructure — we pay attention to how our systems run and look for ways to reduce waste
- Honest tracking — we measure our environmental cost and share what we find, even when the numbers aren't flattering
- Carbon offsets for the rest — what we can't reduce, we offset through verified programs
None of this is revolutionary. But it adds up.
What we'll write about
We want this blog to be useful, not just a place for announcements. Expect posts on:
- How we make technical decisions and what trade-offs come up
- What we're learning about energy use in AI infrastructure
- Practical things you can think about when using AI in your own work
- Honest updates on where we are and where we're falling short
A note on honesty
We're not going to pretend that using GreenGPT makes you carbon neutral, or that we've solved the environmental cost of AI. We haven't. AI uses energy, and that has consequences.
What we can say is that we take it seriously, we measure it, and we're working to make it better over time. Small changes, honestly made.
Come along
If any of this sounds interesting, stick around. We'll keep posts short and grounded. And if you have questions or want to push back on something we've written, we'd like to hear it.
Thanks for reading.
